Most people know what their strengths are, but what about their weaknesses?
Me personally, I know exactly what my strengths and weaknesses are. I believe it’s imperative to know these things if you want to move forward in a positive and productive direction. Like I always say, life is about balance. You can’t have good without bad.
So what do we do about them? 1. We have to be fair in our judgement of ourselves and identify what our weaknesses are. 2. Ask ourselves, are they something we can change and if so are we really ready to change them? 3. Do I need help in changing them?
We can have the very best of intentions in the world but if we don’t follow them through with an action, then it’s pointless. Actions speak louder than words and we all know that.
On the other hand it’s also okay to not be ready for change. There’s nothing wrong with that because we can only change when the time is right for us. After all, it is our life and we’re the only ones who have to live it.
But if we are ready, change, ever lasting change generally doesn’t come easily. Nothing ever worth having in life does so we have to make sure we’re well and truly ready for the challenges ahead. Because there will be, and many of them.
For me that’s now. I’ve already identified what my biggest weaknesses are that are holding me back from achieving my goals. So the next step is finding the right help to get started until I’m confident and strong enough to go it alone. By that I mean mentally, not physically. I have no problem in asking for help in whatever form is needed. I’m not super woman and some times in life we need help to get where we’re going in life, now is one of those times.
So don’t be afraid of your weaknesses and change. Facing them, confronting them and embracing them can be very rewarding. I for one am about to find out.

Hmmm interesting perspective Lia. I could probably tell you all my weaknesses over my strengths LOL. Or you may know already as I blog pretty honestly – no holds barred. I agree that sometimes we need help but I have learnt that despite all the help in the world – taking action to effect the change can only be done by us. It sounds like you’re ready to take it head on.

Yes well, those of us with compulsive obsessive personality traits could definitely list all our weaknesses. We find them so that we can fix them, or at least try to anyway.
I’m going to try hypnotherapy with some personality traits I need a little help with. Will to try anything at this stage of the game. Giving up isn’t an option as you know about me Magda. xxx
Hey Lia
I may have quipped about OCD, but I stand corrected, as a friend whose background is in psychology, pointed out to me that OCD is a fear and real illness and that we bandy the term about too freely.
Personally, I envy how organised you are, and only dream about being as organised! (if you’re talking about obsessive compulsive traits, that is
). I think the thing we need to remember in life is that some of the things we do may appear ‘obsessive’. However, if it lends toward bettering our lives, doesn’t harm anyone and benefits ourselves as well as those around us, then we have no need of change. It’s really just our own peculiarities, and that if they serve us well, should be celebrated and embraced. After all, it seems those who are most organised seemed to get the most done!

You’ve made some very valid points there Kerry. My organisation has often been branded OCD by my family and friends and I seldom got a say in the matter. I obviously just got used to it and became comfortable in referring to myself as having OCD tendencies.
But I don’t see it as a weaknesses, it’s more a strength.

I, for one, have always been inspired by your organizational skills Lia. And if you feel like you’ve got too many, feel free to send them in my direction as I’m seriously lacking in that department
Liz I’ve always been like this. Then I joined the military and it was further enhanced. Now it’s just me and how I live my life. xxx
Well put Lia!
Thanks. xxx
