Well my plan worked! The changes I made to last weeks nutrition had a huge impact on my body and metabolism. The results spoke for themselves at the end of the week with not only a drop but a significant drop. So I’m extremely happy that the changes I implemented did what they were supposed to do.

This week’s meals and snacks aren’t hugely different compared to last weeks. I pretty much eat whatever it is I feel like eating and live by the rule if it ‘aint broke then don’t fix it. By that I mean, if I like something I’ll continue to eat it until I’m ready to change it to something else. I’m not one of these people who has to eat something different every single day. I just go with the flow most of the time. I guess you could say I’m a repetitive eater and it doesn’t really bother me. It is what it is I guess. That and if I’m getting the desired results I want then why on earth would I change it, and so I don’t.

On the subject of nutrition I’ve recently found something that’s going to make my life so much easier not to mention more time efficient. HomeFresh Organics is a family run online business that delivers organic food directly to your home. We received our first delivery Friday. I got all the organic fruit, salad, vegetables and meat I needed and was really happy with their prices. It actually turned out cheaper than buying from the stores.

Plus since we bought ourselves a chest freezer a couple of weeks ago we now have room to buy in bulk and freeze, especially when it comes to meat. So all is good on the food front at the moment and things are all falling into place.

This Week’s Menu

by Lia Halsall

Breakfast: Organic Breakfast Smoothie
Snack: Nazafit Organic Chicken Burger with Salsa
Lunch: Mum’s Chow Mein
Snack: Protein Shake & Organic Strawberries
Dinner: Basa Fillet & Organic Salad

This week’s menu has been reined in a little bit calorie wise compared to last week. Just like muscle memory my body has a diet memory, I’m sure of it. Things had been progressing along consistently since the start of the year but have slowed down resulting in a plateau. This isn’t uncommon so I’m not really concerned about it. But to get things moving again I’ve decided to change my daily calorie intake for this weeks menu. I can function effectively on a lower calorie lower carbohydrate diet due to my having PCOS. Everything in life has a positive and a negative aspect to it and this is no different. So we’ll so how my body responds this week to the changes.

I’m still enjoying all my foods during the week and my weekends are getting better and better. The more I listen to my body the better I feel and the better the results. It’s quite simple really. I have approximately twenty weeks left until I complete my first short term goal and leave Australia. Still plenty of time but also no time to waste, if that makes sense.

It’s time to giddy-up and take this diet to the next level.

Ode to Coffee

by Lia Halsall

Coffee comes in all different forms and I for one am a fan of it, in moderation of course. Here’s a list of the various different types of coffee that you can drink:

☕ Affogato
☕ Americano
Bicerin
Breve
Caffé Latte
Café Bombón
Café au lait
Caffé Corretto
Café Crema
Caffé Macchiato
Café Mélange
Coffee Milk
Cafe Mocha
Ca phe sua da
Cappuccino
Carajillo
Cortado
Cuban Espresso
Espresso
Eiskaffee
Flat White
Frappuccino
Galao
Greek Frappé Coffee
Iced Coffee
Indian Filter Coffee
Instant Coffee
Irish coffee
Liqueur Coffee
Kopi Luwak
Mochasippi
Turkish Coffee
Vienna Coffee
Yuanyang

I used to be a skinny latte girl, but recently due to my increased sensitivity to drinking cows milk I’ve had to try expanding to other coffee options. When I first started drinking coffee, it took me a while to find a coffee bean that I could tolerate that wasn’t so bitter. Last weekend I experimented with a long macchiato and a short macchiato. So this time around I know I’m not going to love it straight away but with time I know I will. It’s a trial and error process of elimination. I’m persevering though because all good things come to those who wait.

I’d like to know what’s your favourite coffee and how often you drink it. So if you want to share, leave me a comment.

Chicken, Spinach & Feta Sausages

by Lia Halsall

Chicken, Spinach & Feta Gourmet Sausages are my latest taste sensation thanks to a guy from work who’s also a butcher. Me personally, I never liked sausages growing up as a kid or even as an adult. I used to call them all mystery bags because it was a mystery to me what was in them. That was until now. These are positively delicious and I know what goes in them.

They’re not something I would eat every night for dinner but when I do they’re served up with an organic green salad. They hit the spot just nicely.

It’s important to try new foods and recipes so that we don’t get stuck in that nutrition rut we all know exists. Of course it’s easier to stay in your comfort zone but when we get bored with food what’s the first thing we reach for? Usually it’s something that’s fast, easy, cheap and nasty that isn’t going to meet our nutrient requirements. It’s never worth it. I should know because I’ve been down that path time and time again and it always ended up with exactly the same results. You didn’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out why.

So that’s why I’ve been trying different things and bought the new kitchen appliances, to broaden my options. So far it’s working. I have an ever growing collection of healthy cook books, a couple of websites (Taste & Healthy Food Guide) I visit regularly and a coach whose recipes make eating healthy an absolute pleasure.

Have the right resources and tools of the trade and there’s no excuses for not eating and living a long and healthy life.

What have you tried lately that’s been different and healthy?
