After a nine month deployment and eating in a controlled mess environment, I’m definitely looking forward to getting back home to my organic whole food diet. Nothing tastes as good as being in shape feels in my opinion.

When I do eventually get home, which feels like forever away at the moment, I’m going to take a months leave for some well earnt rest and relaxation. Hubby’s home with me for the first couple of weeks which will be great and then I’m home alone for the remainder of the time.

So I’ve decided that I’m going to book myself in for a cleanse and detox retreat somewhere nice. I have a couple of places in mind,Gwinganna & The Byron. Both places look lovely and which ever place I don’t go to I’ll visit next year as I’m going to make this a yearly event for myself. After all, if I don’t look after my body it won’t look after me.

It’ll be a great opportunity to detox the mind body and soul after the last year away working ready to return to a normal living and working environment. If there is such a thing. Eating an organic diet will be a great start because we all know you are what you eat. Then there’s activities like morning walks followed by yoga classes all of which will be great for my skeletal and muscular system. Not forgetting all the luxurious pampering at their day spas, the choices are endless.

I’ve always wanted to go to one but never got around to it like most things in life. Not anymore, things are going to be different when I get home. I’m putting myself first and I’m going to take better care of myself. So much so I bought myself a LadyShip Organic Essence Extractor so that I could make green smoothies for breakfast. Michelle Nazaroff gave me the idea so I have her to thank for this positive change I’m making in my life.

Change is a great thing and I can’t wait to get home to make them next year.

If you could change, what would you change?

Breakfast: Organic Breakfast Smoothie

Not a great deal has changed from last weeks menu. I’m flying solo this week at home so because I worked on the weekend and had limited time to do everything I made the decision to eat lunch at work. It’s about working smart, not hard. That’s one of the great things of where I work, I can get a great sit down meal of my choice without having to sacrifice my healthy standards. It makes things that little bit easier having that option available for times like these. For dinner though I’m having home-made organic lamb and rosemary hamburger patties. It’s another one of hubby’s recipes. I cherish his talented culinary skills, especially when he’s not here to cook for me.

In the journey to find a new coffee drink without having to suffer the side effects of all that milk, I’m happy to report I’ve taken the first step in the right direction. I’ve gone from drinking skinny latte’s to mini skinny lattes. You’re probably wondering what the hell I’m talking about, aren’t you. Well it’s still a skinny latte but instead of drinking it in a normal size latte glass it’s an espresso glass. So it’s much much smaller in size in comparison to what I was using previously. The strength of the actual coffee is taking me time to get used to. I only drink them on weekends so once my taste buds adapt I’ll start cutting back on the amount of milk I use in them. I’m getting there but it’s taking time of course. Like everything in life. Perseverance is the key here folks.

What have you had to cut back on in your diet due to sensitivities or allergies?

Snack: Nazafit Power Protein Bar
Dinner: Chilli & Garlic Prawns with Organic Salad

I learnt a very valuable lesson this weekend about peeling boiled fresh organic eggs. The most important thing here is to make sure that the eggs aren’t fresh, otherwise the egg shell won’t peel away from the egg white. Instead a lot of egg white was wasted because it stuck to the shell ending up in the rubbish bin instead of in my morning snack I have planned for the week. 15 eggs later I was losing my patience and getting really frustrated, that was until I googled it and found out why. Apparently when you’re planning on hard boiling eggs you want to make sure they’re not fresh eggs instead using eggs that are 10-14 days old. Lesson learnt and I won’t be making that mistake again. Moving on.

I’m looking forward to eating my organic beef and vegetable kebab sticks for lunch this week, they’re an old favourite of mine and truly truly delicious. It’s a different way to eat vegetables and these are the six varieties that I chose to have in them:

✭ Organic Green Capsicum
✭ Organic Brown Onion
✭ Organic Fresh Pineapple
✭ Organic Cherry Tomatoes
✭ Organic Zucchini
✭ Organic Mushrooms

Variety is the spice of life after all and the more variety the better when it comes to the kitchen. I like to cook mine on the BBQ so they have that smokey char grilled flavour to them.

Eating organic, clean, healthy and lean isn’t so difficult once you get into a routine and your taste buds adjust. It’s actually quite easy and I can’t wait to get started on this weeks menu.

As Julie Child would say, bon appetit!

As soon as I wake up, I head straight for the kitchen and mix 15ml of Chlorophyll with half a glass of Neverfail Springwater.

If you’re anything like me I hadn’t heard of it until it was recommended to me by my coach Michelle Nazaroff. So here’s a little bit of a heads up for you all:

“What is Chlorophyll? Chlorophyll is the green pigment in plants and is responsible for absorbing and transforming the energy of the sun into the chemicals and nutrients needed by plants to grow. Chlorophyll also provides vital nutrition for the human body because it has a similar molecular structure to haemoglobin (oxygen carrier in red blood cells), which may explain its ability to enrich the blood and provide energy.” Read more….

Once you get past the look and taste of it you’ll soon discover that it’s a great addition to your daily supplement regime. For me, it serves two purposes. Firstly what it’s originally designed for and secondly to help my system because my detoxification is poor. My CYP1A1 gene causes a 50% increase in free radical production which means I’m prone to higher accumulation of toxic substances in my body resulting in health problems. So anything that can further assist this process for me is an added bonus.

One thing I have noticed about it is that it really gets things moving, if you know what I mean. What can I say, it’s doing what it’s designed to do and doing it very effectively.

This has been and will continue to be a staple in my daily supplement regime. I don’t just think of the right now. I’m always thinking ahead when it comes to my health, fitness and longevity. If I don’t look after my body now it’s not going to look after me later on down the track.

Are you looking after yourself?
