Hormones Part I

by Lia Halsall

We all have them and in all honesty, I have absolutely no idea what to do with mine most of the time. I’ve learnt a lot about them just recently.

Last month I had mine tested, my coach recommended it. More specifically I had Adrenocortex Stress Profile & Endocrinology Saliva testing done. Now there’s a mouthful. Well anyway, from them we identified some problems. They are:

★ High Estrogen (E1)

★ Low Progesterone (P4)

★ Low Testosterone

Not your ideal outcome for a figure competitor. After all, my goal is to grow muscle and lose body fat. With these levels it makes it almost impossible. So it’s baby steps whilst we deal with one hormone at a time until we can remedy them all and get them back to normal.

Life has a strange way of turning out some times and the best possible plans can always be thrown into complete turmoil in a moments notice. I’m a perfect example. I just keep telling myself that “what doesn’t kill me, will only make me stronger in the end” over and over again in my head. Everything in life does happen for a reason, I have to believe in that even though I may not understand the “why?”.

I didn’t get into this condition hormonally overnight so it’s going to take just as long to change back. How long that’ll be, is anyones guess at the moment. In the meantime I just need to be patient and trust in the process.

So lots going on, on the health front. I know one thing for sure, when I get to the end of this as far as my health’s concerned I’m going to be feeling like a million dollars.

Lia

Firstly, you won’t believe how relieved I am to see you again.

As for hormones, I’ve been on this path of discovery for the last year or so. I found out I have high Estrogen, low Progestrogen, and high Testosterone, not a bad result. What we also discovered was that I was so unable to fall pregnant that being on the Pill for all those years did nothing except screw up my menopausal stages. Thank you very much!

We went in search of my mineral levels because everything else is showing good. We discovered high Copper and low Zinc. No wonder I thought I was going mad for a while. With everything life has thrown at me over the last couple of years I thought I was depressed. Nope, wrong. Chemical imbalance in the blood.

Here I am with everything balancing out normally after 12 months of being on Zinc Picolinate feeling like a new woman. I’m back into re-building my business again, and deciding on when I start back training with a trainer again. Will I ever compete again? I’d like to say to next year to celebrate turning half a century, so with that in mind I will train like a bodybuilder, and see what the future holds me.

It takes time to sort some things out, but the investment and wait is worth it. Just like waiting for your return.

That’s one of the most heartfelt comments I’ve ever had, thank you.

Life continues to challenge us all and it’s not how hard we fall down that matters, it’s whether we get back up that does. So once again we shall dust ourselves off and soldier on in store for the next challenge.

It’s good to be back online, I’ve missed you too. xxx

Thanks for sharing your results Lia – interesting info. I hope it doesn’t take too long to get everything back to ‘normal’ again.

I’m currently taking supplement to help with the estrogen and then I’ll do another test in three months time. This year is definitely teaching me patience that’s for sure. LOL!! xxx

Wow Lia…what a discovery! You’re obviously on top of what you need to do to remedy your situation. Hope it all goes well for you, and it will be interesting to see how your test goes in another 3 months. Who would even think to take such a test. Your coach sounds like they’re very knowledgeable. Anyway, here’s to seeing some improvements over the next few months.

My coach has become very familiar with girls who suffer from various hormone issues so knows what to look for when things aren’t as they seem. Luckily they were right and now we’re addressing the issue. It’s not a quick fix but at the end of the process it’ll be worth it.

So how are you, well I would hope? Are you still enjoying the army? xxx

Hey Hey Lia
finally got to get a look around!

Funny, as you know my hormones came back with

close to normal Estrogen
Normal Progesterone
extremely high testosterone. Through the roof even. I think I need to ask your coach what that means???

Go figure.

But grateful to know where their at, now need to find out how it will benefit me in my bodyfat issues.

Good to have you back.

xxD

Knowledge is power Dori. Having answers is great, because all we need to do is find the right solution for our bodies. We’ll discuss it more over on the forum if you would like?

So when are you coming back? You know I miss you too. xxx
