Dare to be Different

by Lia Halsall

This time last year I posted this post. After reading some blogs, facebook status’s and twitter posts I thought that you could do with a good belly laugh. Everyone seems so stressed out at the moment. Enjoy these hilarious statistics. LOL!!

Being different doesn’t necessarily have to have the negative stigma attached to it instead I embrace being different, but that’s just me. Just because I don’t own my own home, want children or celebrate any of western societies festive occasions doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with me. This is my life and I’m the only one who has to live it. I’m happy and that’s all that matters at the end of the day.

You just have stop and pay attention, especially at this time of year. Everyone is stressed out, rushing around, being negative and usually don’t have very many nice things to say. So much for the festive season. LOL!! And people wonder why I don’t do it. It’s not rocket science. For me, this time of year is for annual holidays. I simply slow down, kick back and relax whilst still enjoying my training and nutrition. I guess you could say that I’m doing the opposite to everyone else around me and feel so much better for it.

Being different, honest and upfront as I’ve mentioned before can make you some what unpopular with the majority of people. But you know what, who cares. My new chosen life is all about quality, not quantity. Life is for living and damned if I’m going to waste of second of it on anyone less deserving of my time.  I’m comfortable being selfish and it’s made me a happier and healthier person because of it. So not everything about being different is negative. It’s how you look it at. From where I’m sitting my glass is hall full but you may see it half empty. Either way is doesn’t really matter, because it’s what I think and feel that matters.

So step outside the square you live in and dare to be different, go on. ;)

haha! good one! You’re not alone in stepping away from the “normal” celebrations of the western world-John & I haven’t “done” christmas in years; just send out a few cards; but it’s good to be able to step back and watch everyone else in their chaos! Love the last statistic about passing out at the toilet-glad I won’t be there!!! :-) I don’t think there is anything negative about being different-like you say-”who cares?!” heheheGlad to know you my friend!cheers!

You and me are like two peas in a pod Raechelle. I’m glad to know you too, it makes life more interesting knowing I’m not the only “different” one around here. ;) xxx

As I was saying to someone just recently Lia, Christmas/New Years just ruins a perfectly good couple of weeks off work for me! I do however do the Christmas ‘thing’ for the kids but try and limit it to the one day. I got organised early and I’m very relaxed now. Have had a few invitation for drinks/bbq’s/new year’s eve and I’ve pretty much declined all of them. I just want to relax and be healthy. No more bloated and tired holidays for me!Enjoy your holidays xxx

Xmas is all about the children, I couldn’t agree with you more on that point Frankie. But when as adults the stress impacts the festive season it ceases to be a festive season now doesn’t it. LOL!! At least those of us who have chosen a more relaxed approach to this time of year will enjoy it. :) xxx

Glad to be part of this great bunch of women…like Frankie, I do Christmas for the kids, but that’s all it is – one day. I usually send cards to the people who sent them to me, but this year I was too slack/selfish/busy with better things to even do that…I am really looking forward to the next week or so of quiet relaxing times with hubby working from home, which means lots of good food and training – then we go camping for a week in January – an annual family tradition.xxx

Different is good Lia.  Who wants to be like everyone else….lol…makes life more exciting anyway.  I for one, don’t stress at Christmas.  I love this time of the year and it’s the most relaxing time for the whole family.  Everyone goes away here, and it’s so quiet…pure bliss!   :)

Being “normal” or like everyone else would be simply boring and I don’t do boring Kerry. LOL!! Sounds like bliss back at home for you. Now you can sit back and relax and enjoy your time with your family. xxx
