Spring Clean your Home & Life

by Lia Halsall

Cleaning EquipmentSpring Cleaning isn’t a dirty word, quite the contrary. If we treat spring cleaning in the same way we do our nutrition and training we’d have no problems would we, but unfortunately that isn’t the case when we’re time poor. Good thing is it doesn’t have to be that way with a little time and effort.

Today’s officially my first day of holidays and I’ll give you one guess what I have in store to do, spring cleaning. LOL!! Yep call me crazy but a clean and organised home serves two very important purposes for me. Firstly there’s the obvious part of having a clean home and secondly, because it has a follow on effect where it de-clutters my mind which simplifies my life. Then everything happens as it’s supposed to happen and with less effort that. Now who wouldn’t want that for themselves in these busy times in life. I know I do and that’s why I’m going to get on top of my life starting from the ground up.

As the age old saying goes “the first is the worst and it only gets better from there”. Well it’s true and it’s probably why we procrastinate about starting anything challenging in the first place because we all know how much of a chore it’s going to be. But like everything else in life once you get started it does get easier so that’s the silver lining here. Nothing worth having in life ever came easy and this is just another one of those times. And anyway, a little hard work never did any harm. Just think of those additional calories your burning. ;)

Of course I have a plan, I have 13 rooms in total to clean over the next two weeks before we leave for Queensland. I’ve created individual listings and put them on my iCal. That way, room by room I can delete them as I progress down the list and at the end of each day what’s left can get rolled over into the next day. Given I am on holidays and don’t have any particular time frame in which to work in I’ve decided to pace myself. There’s no need to place any unnecessary self-imposed pressure upon myself and nothing to gain by doing it either. So slow and steady as it goes.

I also have my speedcleaning book to help me out. It’s full of great hints and tips to make the process of spring cleaning as painless as possible. Speaking of which I better get my iShuffle out of my gym bag because listening to music whilst cleaning helps pass the time.

So on that note, I’m going to go make a start on my first room for today. Until tomorrow….
