No more sweaty armpits

by Lia Halsall

ArmpitToday I’m heading back to the Ashley Centre to have botox injected into my armpits to stop me from sweating.

I’ll be back later this afternoon to post an update after I’ve had the procedure done.

UPDATE: I arrived to the clinic an hour early so that my doctor could apply numbing gel and because I don’t like needles or pain very much they gave me valium and panadiene forte. Gosh they look after you at this clinic, as long as you’re comfortable they’re happy to accommodate your every need. Then she iced the arm pit for extra numbing assurance and injected fifty units into it. It stung a little but it was over and done within a couple of minutes at the most. The same thing happened for the second armpit. That’s it! It was pretty painless and simple. Within the next week the effects of the botox will block my nerve signals going to the sweat glands therefore I won’t sweat or have odour for at least 9-12 months. I’ll let you know how I go as time progresses.

If you have plastic surgery e.g. liposuction etc does it mean that you can’t enter natural body building competitions because your success were not achieved naturally through diet and exercise? i’m curious because i have never competed and wondered was it only drug enhancing methods that were forbidden? I understand that you aren’t contemplating competing at this stage but i was curious as to the final outcome as i may consider lipo in my own future!

Is this different than the operations they use to do for sweating. You are so brave! I heard sometimes if you stop sweating under the arms you can start sweating other places like in the groin or face? Is this true? Does the botox procedure actually work differently! I hope so because I can to sometimes sweat away and I hate it if I want to wear a nice top!

Info info girl!! LOL

Oh ok. I think what I’ve heard is an Op where they cut the nerve endings off. My one girlfriend had one done for sweaty hands, she said as a kid she had to hold a hanky to be able to write, now she’s got one pupil bigger than the other, a side effect!
Botox must be a new discovery, do tell me how you go I am really interested in the results this time ok!

I agree what you said to Fern, I am also picky on the fabrics and colours. Sometimes if I wear a washed item and start to sweat I can smell it immediately, wrong fabric or did not wash out properly, I dunno. Just a horrible issue to have.

I’m gonna keep reading for feedback, sounds like a great treatment. I want it this time too :-) ))

Glad to hear it went well. Have you also had permanent hair removal? If that’s your armpit in the picture, it doesn’t look lik you have to shave.

I’ve always been a big sweater and it’s something I’ve wanted done for some time now so I just went for it. I’m home, it’s done and now I can’t wait for the results to kick in. No more sweating and no more odour. *woo hoo* :-)

Hi Anon.

INBA Rules & Regulations are here for clarification. But basically muscle implants and/or drug enhancement are banned. Liposuction isn’t banned because it’s not a dieting competition that we’re entering, we’re judged on our entire package. Not just how lean we are. Liposuction doesn’t increase my muscularity so therefore isn’t considered and enhancement. I hope this answers questions.

I had my additional “fat pockets” removed that I couldn’t through dieting and training and had tried over the course of seven figure competitions. My DNA and my genetic disposition is what it came down to and so I opted to have them removed via liposuction. I certainly plan to compete in the future once I’m healed and of a healthy mind body and spirit.

Lia :-)

I’ve never heard of operations for sweating Flea. As for sweating in other places, I’ve not heard of that either so can’t help you there sorry. But basically like I said in my post the botox blocks my nerve signals going to my armpit sweat glands therefore I will stop sweating and there will be no odour. No more deoderent either.

Like you, my sweating was a real problem of which I was able to hide most of the time but enough is enough so I did something about it. :-)

Sweating’s fine, if only it was just in the gym. I sweat all the time and it stains and ruins my clothes. I’ve been hiding it for years and am always selective what frabrics, colours and types of clothes I buy because of this issue. It’s not about being a girl, it’s about wanting to be hygenic.

As for coming up for filex, unfortunately not this year. I have a wedding to attend in brisbane two weeks before hand so that’s taken a financial priority, sorry Fern. :-(

I always wear a t-shirt under my uniform to soak up the constant sweat I suffer, even if it’s stinking hot outside. Wearing white was a rare occassion and if I did it would end up with a yellow stain that never comes out. I usually just wear work and/or pt gear as wearing something other than that would either make me sweat more due to the non-ideal fabric or stain and ruin it so I’d just go without. That and it’s embarressing, especially when your out and about or at an event.

If I forget to update due to my shocking memory please don’t hesitate to ask me, it’ll just remind me. LOL!!

That isn’t my armpit, it’s just a picture I googled. But yes, I’ve had permanent hair removal as well Butch. :-)
