2009: Short Term Goal #1

by Lia Halsall

My Fat CamsThis year I have set up monthly short term goals to help work towards my long term goal and here is a picture of Short Term Goal #1. Previously I’ve only had to have two sizes of uniforms, off-season and comp-season. That was until last year when I had to get myself a larger pair of DPCU’s (Disruptive Pattern Camouflage Uniform) in July. Back then they fitted me comfortably but by the end of the year they looked like they were spray painted on. To say wearing them was uncomfortable is a complete understatement.

Previously I have posted about breaking away from being so numbers focused for a number of different reasons. Of course, numbers aren’t the enemy and I do use them but only as a guide. So my first goal is to fit into my uniform comfortably by the time I return back to work on Monday 19th January 2009. That is two weeks from tomorrow and as you can see I’ve printed off a calender for that time period.

This is hanging up in my home office as a visual reminder of why I’m making smarter choices with my training and my nutrition. At the end of each day I cross off a box so that I’m one day closer to achieving my goal. Like I keep saying “if I want different, I have to be prepared to do different” and this is something very different for me from what I’ve done in the past.

So for the next two weeks I’ll be doing everything within my power to ensure I achieve this first goal. I have no idea what weight I need to be to fit back into this uniform comfortably and in all honesty I don’t care. Just as long as I do what I’ve set out in my goal framework I have no doubt I’ll be more comfortable then what I was at the end of last year.

I also have goals set ready for February, March & April. I hadn’t planned them as goals, they kind of happened that way. But you’ll have to wait and find out what they are when that time rolls around. Last but certainly not least is that I’ll be taking and posting my monthly progress photos this week. Be sure to check back for them later on in the week. Until then, have a great week!

Thats a great way of setting goals Lia, I like it when its not numbers focused too. I’ve no doubt that you will achieve your goal!

Good to see the uniform all ironed and ready to go! I did all my ironing at the start of my holidays, so I could really enjoy my last day of holidays. :)

I hate ironing Hilary. So also by doing this I won’t have to do it in two weeks time either, smart thinking we are.

Keeping goals small and simple makes them much more realistic and achievable. I want to make them much more fun this year too Nicole.

Thats an awesome idea Lia. One of the many you have.

I think I need to do that for my Ed Hardy top and new jeans.

I have no doubt you’ll get there in plenty of time.

Great goal Lia. I’d wish you luck but I don’t think you’ll need it. You’re sounding really positive, dedicated and on fire and with these qualities you’re sure to get there. Good on you. Have an awesome week.

Lia, soon you will be getting rid of that uniform!

You are so organised, are you Virgo by chance? or is it the military in you?LOL

Try not to put too much pressure on yourself, just let it happen. Try not to think about it, focus on other things in the day, then it will fall into place.

You should definitely do the same for your ed hardy gear Lisa. It’ll just reinforce you existing goal.

I’m feeling and thinking much more positive now than I have in a long time Shelley. And I have no doubt I’ll reach my goal too, thanks for the vote of confidence though.

Nope sorry, cancer Sam. That’s why I’m such a domestically organised creature. LOL!! Don’t worry, I’m not pushing yet. I’m to busy enjoying the ride. But thanks for checking.

I had to do something different so this was it, it’s a constant reminder and I’m very much a visual person so it made perfect sense Charlotte.

That looks like a great way to go about reaching your goals Lia. Small steps along the way lead to a big outcome at the other end.
I am excited for you that you are sounding so positive!

That’s what I thought too Andj, small steps lead to bigger step. And thanks, I’m feeling more positive every day although it’s still hard as you would know. I’ve been thinking about you and your husband. Just wanted you to know that.
