Katie’s blog today really inspired me in a number of different ways. It’s got me thinking about things.
I seem to have one good day followed by many not so good days. So seeing today I’m somewhere in between I’ve decided to get myself a little bit more organised ready for the week ahead. First up are my basic supplements I take for general health and well being. Considering I’ve been sick this week, the fact that I’ve neglected to take them for some time now is probably one of the many contributing factors. So I got my supplements out, put them in my supplement tray so there’s no reason for not taking them. Here’s what’s in there:

★ Fish Oil
★ Evening Primrose Oil
★ Glucosamine
★ Digestaid
★ Antioxidant
★ Hair, Skin & Nails
★ Gymnema
★ Folate

I’ve also pulled my The Eat-Clean Diet Cookbook out for recipe ideas. For some reason today I feel like cleaning up my diet and by taking small steps towards this hopefully it’ll lead to big steps. I’m going to sit down and work out my meals and snacks, nutritional timing and ensuring I’m meeting all my nutritional requirements. Nothing to over the top at the moment for me but enough to get me eating regularly and healthy again will suffice. I have to walk before I can run so that’s good enough for me.

And I’ve been online shopping again. It’s just to easy to do. LOL!! This is to be my very last purchase as far as my photography’s concerned, well at least for this year. I had to upgrade my existing camera bag to the above slingshot since buying my flash and a whole other bunch of camera accessories to fit everything in. I also needed more spare batteries for my new flash, boy does it ever suck the life out of batteries. I couldn’t believe it. Then there was this dvd guide for my camera and being the visual learner I am had to buy it so I could learn and improve my current camera skills. Now I think I’ve pretty much got everything ready which is great because I’m photographing Tim & Katie at the 2008 INBA Vic Titles.

Oops before I forget, on top of my logging after @ 2100h every night I’m also not going to be online Sunday’s. That’s starting next week of course. LOL!! This is yet another step towards getting me back on track again. So now you will know when I’m online and offline. Well that’s it for today so have a great week and don’t forget to smile.

Image after image and in one video after the next, you’ve seen flawless Figure girls on stage. Their skin glowing, all that light bouncing off a countless number of rhinestones perfectly positioned over their fabulous suits, their faces beautifully made up, and their physiques looking impeccable.

Each and every one of these women looks unquestionably glamorous and absolutely striking in those bright lights — that’s undeniable. What is questionable, however, is just how “glamorous” their journey up on stage really was.
There’s little talk about what these stunning ladies went through to look the way they do when we see them flaunting their physiques for the judges.
No, we’re not talking about their Spartan lifestyles for the last four months. What we are talking about, are the few days before that all-important event, and the hours upon hours spent backstage getting prepared to walk up those steps looking as flawless as they do.
Ladies, it’s time that someone tells it like it is.
Let’s talk about the prep the day before and on the day of competition. You’ve done all the training to look your absolute best; you may as well know a few truths about those final stages of prep. Brace yourself — some of these facts may surprise you enough to punch some of the enchantment right out of the alluring world of competition.

When it comes to tight muscles, there is one simple tool that’ll serve you better than just about any other option. Yes, stretching is excellent for lengthening the muscle; but this little baby targets the tone of the muscle as well, thereby doing something that stretching alone will never do.
Ladies, I present to you the foam roller.
Foam rolling, also known as self-myofascial release (SMR), is essentially just like getting a deep tissue massage. The difference is, you control the pressure and areas of concentration; plus, it doesn’t cost you $80 a pop!
SMR allows you to reach and properly stimulate tense, tight areas of your entire body, relaxing those muscles and releasing pressure — which in turn makes them soft and supple. The entire of goal of SMR is to stretch the fascia (connective tissue that supports and protects the body), releasing bonds between the fascia, integument, muscles, and bones.
These adhesions develop throughout life as areas of major muscle imbalances, knots, and scar tissue from physical trauma; they’re also known as trigger points. Alleviating these knots and tightness will restore normal flexibility, range of motion, and balance to the body. By rolling over these areas, the fascia is manipulated, causing it to realign and reorganize itself in a more functional manner.

This isn’t an uncommon term or even behaviour in bodybuilding. Quite the contrary really, so I’m going to talk a little about this today because I’m a huge sufferer of it. Jacqui Louder has talked to me at lengths about this. To put it in lay mans terms, you don’t get an alcoholic to stop drinking cold turkey because it only makes them want it more and creates and even bigger challenge to overcome. Does that make sense? So anyway, what she suggested I do was to drink only standard size drinks (no more beer mugs size drinks and free hand pouring of them) to start cutting back. It’s a long process but if I want to create lasting change it’s going to require me to take small steps away from the all or nothing type behaviour. No it’s not easy and yes it’s difficult but I have to start somewhere don’t I. I’m not concerned anymore by the amount of times I will get off track just as long as I get back on it and continue moving forward. This journey is about lasting change in every aspect of my life.

Mum has the next month off. By that I mean no probing, no treatment, no doctors, no appointments. She’s had all the treatment she can possibly have and it’s a case of waiting to see how long it’ll be before the cancer becomes active again. Mum’s prognosis hasn’t changed and we all know how this will end, but treatment can make a difference when it comes to the amount of time we have left with her. But today is a good day and that’s all I can ask for. We’ll worry about tomorrow when it gets here.
This is short and sweet today, don’t know why it just is. Still much more to talk about but I’ll save that for another blog.
