Sports Psychologist - 2nd Appointment

Appologies for my recent absence lately, what with Anzac Day and then going away with work for a couple of days I haven't been at home to blog. :o)

Operation Road To Recovery is coming along slowly. I didn't tick all the boxes for last week so unfortunately I didn't earn my week one reward of a retreat massage. But I did achieve my weekly goal weight of 62.5kg so I am stoked! Plus it's 0.5kg more than I'd expected to lose which also means I'm off to a great start for this week. Now my week one reward rolls over into my week two's reward so I actually get two rewards this week when I achieve it of a manicure and french tips and a retreat massage. Next Saturday is going to be a blissful pamper day for myself and I can't wait! :o)

Yesterday I was back for my second appointment. Only this time we opened up pandora's box so to speak which was very challenging for me. And yes, there were tears welling up in my eyes at one stage as deep down I knew we had to go in there to find the root of my present challenges. I now know this is going to be a long process and a difficult one at times but I'm sure I'll come out of this a happier well rounded person. Once we have dealed with these underlying issues then we'll get back to my food challenges but fortunately I'm managing them at the moment. One step at a time one day at a time. Slowly but surely I'll get there. Do I regret my decision to seek help even though I know it's going to challenge me more than anything I have ever face, HELL NO! I have to face myself and put closure to these inner issues once and for all.

So Theo & Liz, yesterday's appointment definitely emotionally drained me but I survived and today I feel much better for it. Thank you both for your on going behind the scenes support of which I'm eternally grateful. :o)

Anzac Day 2007

They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.

Someday has arrived

Life is now. Stop waiting for your opportunity to fully live and realize that it is already here.

Perhaps you have always thought that someday you will follow your dreams. The fact is, someday has now arrived.

Your authentic purpose is calling out to you. Now is the time to be fulfilling that purpose.

Go now in the direction you've always known you must go. Allow the unique and beautiful person you are to come fully to life.

Let go of the excuses and rationalizations that keep you mired in disappointment and frustration. Move quickly forward by continually reminding yourself of why you are doing so.

This is the moment for bold, yet sincere action. Someday is here, and the richness of life is now yours to experience.

-- Ralph Marston

I figured it out! *woo hoo*

You download it free, it's free to use and as long as you have a built in speaker, external speakers or a mircorphone headset you can make calls from computer to computer to anyone in the world. I used it this morning and it works just great! Don't you just love modern technology. LOL!! ;o)

Pill Container

Here's a handy hint that I picked up whilst watching Jenny Lynn's
"The harder I work, the luckier I get". She has a weekly pill container for all her supplements so here's mine packed ready for the week. You can never be to organised! :o)

Sports Psychologist - 1st Appointment

Jacqui Louder is my sports psychologist and without a word of a lie she is awesome! From the very moment that she introduced herself to me she made me feel really comfortable with idle chit chat as we made our way to her office. Once we were there and both seated comfortably the conversation just flowed and before I knew it she asked me "what had bought me to her". And so we began talking about my concerns.

Funnily enough I'm not the first "figure girl" she's seen and I know I won't be the last. As this sport grows so does the problems associated with it and unfortunately not enough are coming forward and asking for help. It's a very personal thing and I only wish that more of you would ask for help, take it from me it's the best thing that you could do for yourself. She said a lot of it comes down to the personal trainers and the impact that their training and dieting has on their clients and what it will do to them psychologically in the long term if not educated correctly. I for one couldn't agree more. I know for myself that this will make me a stronger person but also a better personal trainer once qualified.

I found the initial consultation of an hour and a half went really quickly, I could've stayed there for hours and talked to her I felt that comfortable. All the consultations from now on though are an hour and I'm back again next week. We talked about setting process goals which are very different from what I had been previously doing. No wonder they weren't working for me, I was going about it the wrong way. *doh* So I came home with homework and was up until 0030h working on it. I don't muck around, there was no time like the present folks! LOL!!

I now have my Operation Road To Recovery process goals written down and printed out on pink paper. I have one copy on my notice board at home in my home office and I'll put the second copy up in my office at work tomorrow morning. My new outcome goal is to get back down to 58kg over twelve weeks by Sunday 15th July 2007. So for internal motivation I'll have weekly rewards, then I'll stretch it out to fortnightly rewards and last but certainly not least is the monthly reward. I've already updated my Operation Road To Recovery on the right of my blog and it'll reflect where I'm always at if you want to follow my weekly progression. I have daily tasks I've set for myself that I have to tick off and at the end of the week if I've ticked all the applicable boxes and have reached my goal weight I can reep my earnt reward. *woo hoo*

Well I think that just about covers everything for now. I'm still reading my "If not dieting, then what?" book so no rest for the wicked here. LOL!! Enjoy the rest of your evening and love to you all. :o) xo

Goal Setting

The S.M.A.R.T. Model

S = Specific
Is your goal tangible?
Is your goal direct?
Is your goal clear?

M = Measurable
How will you know if you're on track?
How will you know when you reach your goal?

A = Attainable
Is it possible for you to achieve your goal?

R = Realistic
Is it within your capability to achieve your goal?>br?

T = Time Phased
Do you have a specific date when you will have achieved your goal?

Key Notes:
1. Your goals must be written down
2. They must be visible on a daily basis
3. Use a coloured paper as your eyes are naturally drawn to it
4. Create a rewards list for weekly, then fortnightly and monthly
5. Your rewards are to have no money or time restrictions imposed on them

This was my homework last night and the reason why I didn't blog about my appointment. That's coming up next. :o)

A small act of kindness

A small act of kindness can make a big difference. For when kindness is given, it inspires and enables even more kindness.

You will cross paths today with someone who desperately needs to receive a little kindness. Kindness costs you nothing, and with it you can give so much.

Even when it seems that your kindness is not appreciated, that kindness does indeed make a difference. Even if your kindness is not acknowledged, it is noticed, and over time can soften the hardest hearts.

There is a special joy that comes when you do something just to be kind. Let go of your concern about what's in it for you, and experience how truly good it feels.

Kindness can be so wonderfully refreshing. The world remembers and respects those who offer it on a regular basis.

It's easy to give a little kindness. It's immensely powerful when you do it over and over again.

-- Ralph Marston

Tomorrow's the big day!

That's right, my very first appointment with the sports psychologist is tomorrow and I'm really excited about it. Sounds strange I know, but in my opinion I've already done the most challenging part and that's firstly admitting there was an acutal problem to myself, my family then all my friends (yourselves included of course, that goes without saying). This is the easy part now and I know I'll get to the bottom of this, easy peasy. LOL!! But the best part of all is sharing this with you all and hopefully helping somone out in some sort of a way if that makes sense? :o)

Well the boss wants to use the computer now so I best wrap this up and say my good nights. xo

Jen Hendershott Retires! :o(

"Dear friends, family, and fans,

Well i did it! I completed my trophy case with the 2nd place trophy from the Arnold Fitness Classic. I feel so blessed that I have had the opportunity to take part in this great show 8 years. What an accomplishment! I know there is rumors that I retired after the Arnold! Well, I did! I can only say this right now: " I am discussing my future with my husband Brian as he is a huge part of my life. WE are tired of dieting, training, and competing however, we also love the excitement leading up to it and then the actual show. We are discussing lots of options for us and will be making the best decision for "US"". Stay tuned!"

What's in your fridge?

Well folks, as you can see from my previous blog I've been out and done some some grocery shopping this morning. There's been some necessary adjustments to my daily nutrition so I had to stock up on a few things. Let me tell you, walking around the supermarket wasn't anywhere near as challenging as it normally is. I was so excited about filling up my basket with all the truly great healthy foods to help me on my road to recovery. I don't feel deprived, quite the contrary actually. I now look at foods in a totally different light, I have everyday foods & sometimes food. I can eat whatever I like, the only differnce now is that there are foods I need to eat everyday and foods I want to eat sometimes. :o)

I've come to terms this week in the fact that I may not lose the weight I want as quickly as I normally could but this way is going to be far more beneficial to me both psychologically and physically and that's all that really matters. :o)

So here's a picture of what I've just finished preparing ready for work tomorrow. Now this is a packed lunch. LOL!!

P.S. I've also started journalling my food like this:

Time & Date
What did I drink or eat?
How do I feel physically?
How do I feel emotionally?

By doing this I can hopefully determine the "why's" behind my eating habit's which will help me to better understand not only myself but also my triggers. Only time will tell I guess. :o)

They're up! They're up! :o)
