Big changes are on my horizon

by Lia Halsall

That’s right. . . . . as of next week I’ll be changing jobs, physical location and even my gym. Then on top of that I’ll also be starting my external studies for further career advancement, all in conjunction with competition preparation. As you could imagine time management has never been so important as it is now. :o )

So in saying all of that, wef immediately I’m slowing things down to a much more manageable pace. We all know and accept that some times in life we all have to be selfish and now’s that time for me. I’ll still be blogging time permitting of course as well as reading everyone else’s. Unfortunately leaving personal comments will have to wait until weekends. I really do hope that you will all understand and respect my decision as it certainly doesn’t come lightly. I simply wanted to be honest and let everyone know what I was doing as a common courtesy. :o )

Koko Black

by Lia Halsall

Well here it is! I took this photo of my cup of Hot Chocolate yesterday morning for you just after it was bought out to me. Koko Black has the perfect setting located upstairs in their city salon. There just aren’t words to describe how decedent it was. I’ve never in my life tasted anything quite like it.

Philippa who accompanied me was an absolute pleasure to meet. I’ll be forever in her debt for introducing me to Koko Black. She is quite an incredible woman with many hidden talents. Her passion for writing which is quite evident in her blog entries are always a joy to read for me. I always feel en-captured like when you’re reading a story, as if I’m right there living her life with her. Philippa obviously knows how to write and she does it really well I might add too. Her writing is honest and from the heart, that’s what I love most about it.

Once we’d gone our separate days I made the most of this opportunity and ran some other errands whilst I was in the city, waste not want not. Lucky me, I stumbled by chance across this great little store of fashion accessories. It was all the sparkly jewellery in the store window that caught my eye, I was like a fly to fly paper. I couldn’t help myself, I just had to go in and look. Thankfully I did because I found the most perfect jewellery to wear for this years competitions. The ladies that worked there were just lovely, when I was looking at some of their pieces they asked was it for a special occasion and in all honesty I didn’t quite know how to answer that question. I knew exactly what they were asking me but didn’t know whether they were prepared for my answer. Yep they were a little surprised at first but only to happy to accommodate my questions. Even better, they can custom make pieces just to suit which is what I’ll be doing so that I get exactly what I want. I left with a business card and will be going back there in the near future. Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

From there I headed over to Michaels Camera where I bought my digital camera. I’m still working out lighting issues I’m having for my posing photos, it was time to call in the experts. One of the staff there has been so helpful to me, it’s great to see that customer service still exists in this day and age.

So I’ve ended up spending all of today taking multiple test shots and experimenting with the lighting options on my digital camera. Thankfully hubby kindly allowed me to use him as my guinea pig throughout this entire process. After a great deal of trial and tribulation we eventually came up with the goods. Round one to us! Here’s hoping that the next time this happens which is next week that it won’t be as challenging. Well here’s hoping anyway.

Well time’s getting away from me so I must dash. Have a lovely evening and an even better week everyone. Bye bye for now.

Bring on the weekend

by Lia Halsall

The weekend is just around the corner and as always there’s lots of exciting things happening. Tomorrow Katie’s coming over for a sleepover so that I can take her symmetry and compulsory photos bright and early the next morning. Katie was just on the phone, because she’s been dieting and training her little butt off I’m going to run her a lovely spa tomorrow night. I’ll put in some Letric Soda for her sore muscles, lavender oil to help her relax and pillar candles for natural lighting. It’s just what she needs at the moment before a protein shake and good night’s sleep. She’ll wake up the next morning feeling like a million dollars again.

Then later that morning I’m going out for the best hot chocolate in town at you guessed it, Koko Black. Philippa and myself are meeting there, we met very briefly Anzac Day as I’d recognised her in the crowd coming out of Flinders Street Station. What are the chances. I mean, Anzac Day smack bang in the middle of the city and lets not forget the football folk making their way to the game. I took a chance and yelled her name out and luckily she turned around in acknowledgement. PHEW!! . . . . . that could have been one of those embarrassing moments otherwise. She didn’t recognise me at first as I was in my uniform, that will teach me not to wear my sparkly posing costume more often. There was a brief introduction as we both had our husbands with us and then we moved on. So I guess you could say that we’re meeting properly for the first time of which I’m really excited about. I’ve met so many great and interesting people since moving here a year ago now. Other then the weather I love this city!

Philippa is a really keen scrapbooker of which I’m wanting to get back into. From twelve weeks out of my competition season I’m going to document and photograph absolutely everything and at the end of it put it all into a scrapbook. It’ll be great to look back on in years to come.

Enjoy the rest of your day and keep on smiling.

*brrrrr*

by Lia Halsall

Oh my gosh was it ever fresh outside this morning. *brrrrr* The temperature certainly had my attention, even to the point that I didn’t dare stand still for a second when I was at the gym in between my sets. Instead I jumped up and down on the spot just to keep myself warm so that I didn’t cool down for fear of injury. I must of looked quite the site now that I think of it actually. LOL!! And then to top it off I had to take my weekly posing photos for my trainer which meant stripping down to a small pair of shorts and a sports top with my high heels. Considering my gym doesn’t have heating I certainly suffered for my sport. I was absolutely freezing and here I was wearing next to nothing going through my poses smiling and trying to look like I was enjoying myself. Yeah right, I was thinking more along the lines of you must be stark raving mad woman to be doing this. The title “one flew over the cuckoo nest” certainly comes to mind. I know I must of looked crazy because I felt it! The things you do….. :o )

Thankfully now I’m sitting in my nice warm little office defrosting myself and trying to forget about this morning’s experience. It’s actually a really gorgeous day outside, the sun is shining and not a cloud in the sky. A perfect winter’s day.

One more week and I’ll be twelve weeks out of my first competition of the season. I’m getting so excited, I’m almost bouncing of the walls. *woo hoo hoo hoo* I love this time of year, only downfall is the shedding of body fat in the one season that we need it. Thankfully with our uniforms we have a variety layers that we can wear and before to long I’m sure I’ll be wearing all of mine. You might have trouble identifying me as I’ll be the one five layers deep in clothes. LOL!!

A new day with new challenges, I wonder what life has in store for me today. See you later alligator. xx

All caught up again on blogs :o)

by Lia Halsall

PHEW!! Boy did that take a lot longer than I thought. I have now caught up on reading everybody’s blog and leaving comments. Unfortuantely I haven’t had the time this week until now. As my competition season draws closer I’m finding I have less and less time for things like this. There’s some big changes for me at work which I’ll tell you all about at a later date. I’m also taking up studying next month via long distance learning which will consume some more time towards furthering my career. My husband always says that I’m not happy unless my plate’s full, maybe he’s onto something. Who knows! :o )

So what have I been up to lately. Well yesterday I was out for the day, first up I had an appointment with a hypnotherapist which was interesting. I’m still in two minds about what I think of this experience, I’m not quite sure as yet. Only time will tell. Then it was straight back home for lunch which consisted of a cape seed roll, light mayonaise, smoked chicken, shape cheese, fat free sundried tomatoes and fresh spinach leaves. My husband bought me a cape seed roll from Bakers Delight to try just for something different to eat. It’s packed with grains, sesame, poppy, sunflower and linseeds. At first it resembles something you would find at the bottom of a bird cage but in actual fact it’s quite a nice roll. Just by eating something that’s a little different for me is enough to keep me on track with my nutrition. It works a treat! Well anyway, getting back to it. :o ) Then it was into the city for a camera course I got for free when I bought my digital camera. Boy did I learn a lot, now hopefully the pictures I take are going to look a whole lot better. I was pretty good with my old slr but this digital thing, that’s a whole other ball game. LOL!! I’ve had to buy these special rechargeable batteries for it, thank god for ebay. Picked up a packet of for for $12, p&h free from Tasmania. *woo hoo* Now all I need is a universal charger and Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 and I’m all set! :o )

Miss Katie’s due here very soon, she’s bringing over her finished costume for me to see and also running through her posing and routine. I’m so excited for her and can’t wait until the All Female. It’s going to be a really great weekend! :o ) xx
